Everybody wants to know what SEO is and how to do it correctly, but nobody seems to get exactly what it is. Well, worry no more because I think that it’s about time that newbies like you who wants to make money online deserve to know every basic thing about SEO or search engine optimization. When I was new to this whole internet marketing thing, I was just like you looking for tips on how to get started; however, all I got was something like “The Top 5 Most Important Things you should Know about SEO.” Unfortunately, that won’t get you far and, if anything, it’s like a click bait scam where the blog/website author will keep promising to tell you more just so you’ll subscribe to their website.
But in reality they are the ones benefiting the REAL SEO tricks that they know and use; while giving you the scraps from their table. By the time you’ll realize it they will have already made thousands of dollars and you, on the other hand, have spent needlessly to create your SEO strategy.
What is SEO?
From Wikipedia it says, “search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine’s unpaid results—often referred to as ‘natural,’ ‘organic,’ or ‘earned’ results.” To help you understand what it is and how it works, let me point out something: the world wide web or “www” abbreviated in all website’s URLs (Uniform Resource Locator) is like a giant invisible web where local networks (countries/region) link up with to form the global network infrastructure.
When you create a website you start somewhere in that giant web/network and SEO helps you stretch and extend your connections via linking to other existing sites. The most successful sites links up to over 70% of these connections and therefore, gain significant visibility across the net. From which they can market any products/service and gain potentially huge profits from it.
Why do I need It?
SEO is a crucial internet marketing technique for all web-based businesses; even big corporations pay over $50,000 a month just to stay on top of Google searches. So, unless you just want to spend $150 a year on web hosting to write your personal diary on your website, then you don’t have to use SEO on your site. Whether it’s creating a name brand, or reaching out to more customers you can be sure that SEO will help you reach your goals.
How can I make Money by Using It?
The logic behind employing a good SEO strategy in your online business is to boost sales and establish your name brand. So by default you’re using SEO to make money, because any other marketing methods or the lack thereof, is counterintuitive and unproductive. You see in the web, the more people you reach means the better your chances will be for turning some of them into your potential customers and in all probability, be your loyal customer.
Okay, Walk me through the Steps
The entire SEO process that needs to be done on a particular website in order to make it visible in search engines is so huge that it will not be sufficient to explain all of it in one article. So for this blog post will be laid out as a general overview of SEO and if you’re interested to know more then keep reading and look out for follow up posts from this one. Then maybe you can download every SEO article from this site and learn from that. I’m sure you will be able to use SEO in the same way I’ve used it on my own website. So, without further adieu, here are the general steps of SEO:
1. Make Your URL Structure SEO Friendly
2. Apply SEO for Page Titles
3. Use Meta Descriptions
4. SEO for Site Navigation
5. SEO for Content
6. SEO for Images
8. SEO and Mobile Web Users
9. Promote your Website Using SEO
10. On-Page and Off-Page SEO
11. White Hat/Black Hat SEO
Oh now I See! So how Long Before I can Start to Make Money from This?
Typically, if you follow Google’s SEO guidelines, you should be able to see results in as little as 3 month’s time. But don’t expect to become a millionaire overnight because it will take at least 1 year before you can get your initial investment back. Still if you’re thinking longterm with SEO, then you can become a millionaire sooner or later and that’s the beauty of it. Competition may be strong but there will always be a window of opportunity for you.
What Else do I Need to Know about SEO?
Aside from the 11 things mentioned above about SEO, you also need to know how to use the Webmaster tools for different search engines and how to submit your website and its corresponding sitemaps to search engines for indexing. This will help your website get ranked in search engines, meaning, your website will show up on the first page each time a web user searches for a word term (keyword) that is related to your business or product. For example, you sell branded sneakers and then someone is looking to buy good quality sneakers and made a Google search about “Ace Sleek Rubber Shoes” which also happens to be the name of your product, then Google will display your website first on the list.
I will be posting more SEO topics as a continuation to this post in a comprehensive way of understanding how it works and how you can use it for your blog or website, so you too can compete with other strong sites out there.
